FACE SHIELD INITIATIVES
When we began manufacturing face shields to donate to frontline workers who were facing dire PPE shortages, we were operating in the moment, much like a team of firefighters racing to the scene of a business ablaze. We did not know that the fire would still be burning months later. In fact, some experts have likened the coronavirus epidemic to a raging forest fire, not coming in stages or waves as originally predicted, but continuing to blaze. With no end in sight for the pandemic, and with face coverings mandated in most of the country, our effort changed from strictly donation-based to a new national business model designed to get our face shields in the hands of consumers who wanted them.
When we launched our e-commerce sites faceshield.com and faceshields.com, we knew from past testimonials and reviewers that our product would be well-received and appreciated by buyers. But we also knew that we had to stay true to our roots as a donation-based initiative. That is why for each box of face shields purchased, we donate a shield to someone in need. Today, we have donated more than 30,000 shields nationwide to people and organizations.
Our face shields can now be seen at the Center on Halsted, a comprehensive community center for the health of the LGBTQ community in Chicago; at the Coalition for the Homeless in Washington, DC; at the Tennessee School for the Deaf in Knoxville; at Rescuing Families, Inc. (a family of contractors who helps families with disabilities and financial hardships) in Franklin Square, NY; and at Community Development Institute Head Start in El Dorado Springs, MO. These are just a few examples of the many organizations we have supplied across the country. And we look forward to continuing.
THANK YOU!
Ongoing Innovation
When we first began manufacturing shields to donate, we were focused strictly on utility and durability. While those are still the hallmarks of our products, we now offer our shields with a wide variety of fashionable colored bands, including the popular rainbow band.
We also knew that we needed to include the entire family in quality, U.S.-made protection. We are proud to be early pioneers in the manufacturing of face shields for children, fitting those 10 years and under.
